Description
This course introduces the principles, standards, and technologies of network management in modern communication systems. Topics include the fundamentals of network management, international network management standards, Abstract Syntax Notation One (ASN.1) and Basic Encoding Rules (BER), management information models and functional models, and the architecture and operation of the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). The course examines the evolution and protocol data units (PDUs) of SNMPv2, as well as the architecture, security, interoperability, and advanced management capabilities of SNMPv3. Additional topics include remote network monitoring (RMON), wide area network (WAN) management, and web-based network management. Emphasis is placed on the design, implementation, monitoring, and secure administration of enterprise communication networks.
