This theoretical and practical course introduces the concepts, principles, and classifications of furniture design while examining its historical development from ancient civilizations to contemporary practice. The course explores the evolution of furniture styles, with particular emphasis on major historical and modern design movements, as well as the influence of technological advancements and innovative materials on furniture design and manufacturing. Students also examine the principles of standardization and modular production and their impact on the functional, ergonomic, aesthetic, and manufacturing aspects of furniture. Through analytical studies, detailed technical drawings, and practical workshop projects, students investigate historical furniture styles and develop full-scale prototype models that demonstrate both technical accuracy and design quality.
