This theoretical and practical course introduces students to the origins and historical development of Arabic calligraphy, highlighting its major schools and the contributions of renowned calligraphers. The course examines the fundamental principles, rules, and various styles of Arabic calligraphy, as well as the traditional tools and materials used in calligraphic practice. Through studio-based exercises and practical applications, students develop the technical skills required to produce accurate and aesthetically refined calligraphic compositions while gaining an appreciation of the artistic, cultural, and historical significance of Arabic calligraphy.
